In 2004 Tim was diagnosed with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder. After spending a long time researching the many treatment options and therapies, we decided to head down the biomedical track and one of the first things we did was implement a Gluten Free/Casein Free diet and have him tested for food allergies. We were amazed to find Tim was allergic to HEAPS of foods apart from dairy & gluten, including soy, rice and almond. That left us completely stuck for a milk alternative and I went on a mission on the internet to find something he could have.

I had seen Vance's DariFree mentioned in several of the books I had read about autism and the GFCF diet, and decided to order some from the USA since it was not available in Australia. It arrived (at considerable postage cost!) a few weeks later, and was a complete life saver for us. I could now bake, make him smoothies and give him milk on cereal, just like a 'normal' kid.

I couldn't believe such a great product was not available here, so I set about becoming their Australian Distributor to make it available to the many other kids in Australia like Tim (and their frustrated mums who are always looking for safe alternatives and something that tastes good).

In 2007 I have been thrilled to be able to add some of the Miss Roben's mixes to the product line as a complement to DariFree. The Miss Roben's Allergy Grocer range uses DariFree as an ingredient in some of its mixes, and produces all of its yummy cake/biscuit/muffin/ice cream mixes in a plant free of all the allergens so even the most sensitive people can enjoy these wonderful products.

Since starting gcFree, I have come into contact with all sorts of lovely people, many of whom have children on restrictive diets. I didn't know there were so many metabolic diseases about, and I take my hat off to all the parents out there who struggle daily to give their kids a balanced diet while juggling their allergies.
